Thomas H. Collins of Troy, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017. The son of Jane Thomas Collins of Clinton, NY, and the late James F. Collins, Tom leaves behind his loving wife, Cleo Collins, stepchildren Linda Christian of Troy, NY, John and Terri Christian of Watervliet, NY, Traci Christian of Watervliet, NY, James and Michelle Christian of Belfast, Maine, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with his mother, Tom also leaves six siblings. They are Sheila Collins of Bluffton, SC, Kate Jones of Nashville, TN, Eileen Petersen of Burke, VA, Patrick Collins of Wilmington, DE, Daniel Collins of West Seneca, NY, and Kevin Collins of Clinton, NY.
Tom dedicated thirty years of service to homeless families at Marillac, a program of St. Catherine's Center for Children in Albany, NY.
Visitation will be at Konicek & Collett Funeral Home LLC, 1855 12th Avenue, Watervliet on Tuesday, February 7th, from 5:00-7:00 pm, with the Mass of the Resurrection at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 8th, and burial at St. Mary's Cemetery on Thursday, February 9th.
Tom asked that a message of hope and encouragement be conveyed to all who smoke, that they will stop, and to those who haven't smoked, that they will never start. In support of that effort, donations may be sent in his name to the COPD Foundation.
