Melissa K Sleeper

Melissa "Missie" Sleeper, 57, of Ravena NY, passed away April 29, 2017 at St. Peters Hospice Inn Albany NY. Missie was born April 21, 1960 to Warren and Elsie (Rowe) Sleeper in Albany NY. For anyone who knew Missie knew that she was full of life and laughter. She was always there for her family and friends to lend a helping hand however she could and she had so many people who loved her for it. Missie had been in Albany Medical Center for six weeks before being transfered to St. Peters Hospice Inn where she resided for less than 24 hours before passing away. She had been diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney Disease and Calciphylaxis. Calciphylaxis is a very rare syndrome that causes chronic non-healing wounds that are very painful and are usually fatal. She was immediatly put on dyalisis 7 days a week and tried so hard to battle this illness and save her life even though she was in so much pain. We soon found out that there was nothing we could do to save Missies life and she would never go home again. On April 22 Missie made a very brave decision to stop dyalisis, to take the pain away and to leave this world on her own terms . Missie was pre-deceased by her parents, Warren and Elsie (Rowe) Sleeper of South Bethelhem, NY; She is survived by sister Cathy Sleeper of Ohio and Michael Sleeper of Ravena, NY; Several Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews a Great-Great Nephew; and many adoring family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2pm at the home of Nieces Shannon and Sarah Sleeper, 1466 River Road West Coxsackie NY 12192. All are welcome to attend.
