John J. O'Brien
Troy - John J. O'Brien, 58, passed peacefully on April 22, 2017 at Eddy Heritage House in Troy, NY. Born in Bronx, New York, to Kathleen T. O'Brien and the late Eamon D. O'Brien . He grew up in Whitestone, NY, he graduated from Monsignor Scanlon High School. He worked for Con Edison in New York for 28 years.
He was predeceased by his brother, Eamon O'Brien, Jr. and is survived by his mother Kathleen O'Brien, his sister, Patricia O'Brien and his three brothers Kieran (Alison), William (Elaine) and Kevin (Joyce), his nieces Meagan, Kelsey and Dasha, his nephews Christopher (Kimberly), Andrew, Michael, Eric, Matthew, grand nephew Gavin, his cousins Jimmy Hession, Eileen LaBand, Andy LaBand, and Eric LaBand.
In lieu of a traditional wake and funeral, it is John's wishes to have a natural burial. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a prayer service to be held at the burial on Saturday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, Schenectady, NY 12309. All are invited to a brunch immediately following the service at The Illium Café, Nine Broadway, Troy NY 12180.
A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held on Saturday, May 20 from noon to 3 pm at CJ Sullivans, 213 - 10 41st Avenue, Bayside, New York 11361. It would make John very happy to see all his relatives and friends gathered at that time to remember him.
