Joan H. Collett, long time resident of Watervliet, died July 29, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 25, 1932. She was the daughter of the late James E. Collett Sr. and Anna Lee. Joan was a graduate of Watervliet High School and attended Albany Business College. She served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1961. Joan retired from the Norton company after a long career. Joan is survived by her dear sister -in -law Barbara Collett of Watervliet. Locally, she is survived by nieces, Holly Anne Collett, Barbara C. Roff; and nephew Jeffery M. Collett. Several nieces and nephews residing outside of the Capitol District include James E.Collett lll, Kevin, Brian, Mark, David and Colin Murphy, Cathy Filla, Michael and Deborah Demers; a cousin Dorothy Conover and a brother-in-law Philip Demers. In addition, Joan is survived by many great-nieces and nephews and her devoted Scotty dog Tiger. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother James E. Collett Jr., sisters Ann Shaver and Jean Demers, and nephew David Demers.
