Jeanne J. Denue-Grady passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Stella Yaworski Steinbach. Jeanne was the wife of the late James Grady.
Jeanne was a graduate of Shaker High School, Class of 1959. Jeanne was an Administrative Assistant to the professors of Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics Departments at RPI prior to her retirement in 2004. She was a member of the former St. Brigid’s Church, Watervliet. Jeanne was a member of the Elks Watervliet Lodge 1500 and active in the Ladies Auxiliary also a charter member of the Schuyler Heights Fire Auxiliary, Thunder Road Senior Citizens (Red Hat Society), Town of Colonie Senior Ladies Golf League and Sweet Tees Ladies Golf League. She was proud of achieving 3 hole in ones! Jeanne enjoyed casino trips, the ocean, golf and life in general.
Survivors include her son Thomas Denue, her daughter Mary Jean (Chuck Byrne) Torrisi, grandchildren Paul Richard (Danielle Viola) Torrisi and PV2 Alix Anne Denue: sister of Kath Fitzgerald. Jeanne is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, her former husband Richard T. Denue and dear friends. She also leaves her feline friend Belle. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Mary Ellen Markiewitz.
A very special thank you to the McCarthy girls, Community Hospice, especially Eileen and Paula for their loving support and Chuck Byrne Jeanne’s special friend and “go to guy”.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, January 29th at 12 pm at the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home, LLC 1855 12th Avenue, Watervliet. Friends are invited to visit with Jeannes’s family on Monday from 10 am to 12 pm prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256 or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, New York 12204. in Jeanne’s memory.
