Jean J. Chevry, best known as James, started his journey of life on June 21st, 1974
in Port au Prince, Haiti where he spent his childhood. At 12 years old in February
of 1987, he and his family moved to the United States for a better life. Jean
received his formal education through Brooklyn NY public school, Paul Robeson
High School, and BMCC. While living in Brooklyn he met the love of his life
Shawona. Once they started to have children they both decided to move further
north to give their children everything they valued in life. Jean and Shawona
settled in Troy NY on October 22nd, 2000. They tied the knot at City Hall on July
12th of 2001. During Jean's adulthood, he continued his studies at Bryant Stratton
College for phlebotomy and E.O.C for nursing assisting. Jean was a caring man
with a big heart and it showed through his line of work. Jean worked as a CNA for
Community Hospice and Lady of Mercy Life Center for many years. Jean accepted
Christ as his savior at The United Ordained Church in Troy NY. Jean is survived by
his wife Shawona Chevry, his children Kwanyin Chevry, Jeremiah Chevry, Mary
Chevry, Aaliyah Chevry, David Chevry, his mother Marie Chevry, his siblings
Gregory Chevry, Marjorie Chevry, Yolene Chevry, and Monique Chevry, three
nieces, four nephews, and many cousins. He is predeceased by his father
Dominique Chevry. Jean departed into heaven on April 5th, 2021. Jean was a
loving husband, the best father to his children, and an amazing friend. Jean was a
man that always kept a smile on his face and didn’t go a day without laughing and
making jokes. He was the happiest around his family and loved spending time with
them. He took pride in providing and supporting his family. His favorite sayings
were ¨I am blessed¨ and ¨I am God's son for life¨ as he was a huge believer in
Christ. Jean will truly be missed by his family and friends. We love you, James,
always and forever!
