James Timothy VanOlpen

Watervliet - James T VanOlpen passed away on December 22, 2021, while on vacation in Hawaii. Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late James J. and Bessie (Doherty) VanOlpen. James graduated from Watervliet High School where he played soccer First team All Area. Following graduation, James served his country in the U.S. Navy before starting his career with D&H Railroad. James retied from Amtrak where he was a Machinist.

James is survived by his wife, Ellen (Hanley) VanOlpen, his children Michele (Barbara Toll) VanOlpen and Erin (Lyle) Galante. Proud Pa Pa Moe to his grandchildren Rachel Galante, Janelle Galante and Aidan Toll. Beloved brother of Ruth VanOlpen and Effie VanOlpen.

All services were private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a veteran's charity would be appreciated.
