Genier Clara Clerkin

Genier Clara Clerkin, 90, passed away peacefully in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY, on April 2, 2015. In heaven, she rejoins her beloved husband of 60 years, Dr. Eugene J. Clerkin, who predeceased her in 2008. Genier was a graduate of Vergennes, VT high school and Bishop DeGoesbriand School of Nursing in Burlington, VT, and worked at hospitals in Hanover, NH and New York City. Genier and Gene raised their family in White River Junction, VT, where Genier supported Gene in his Optometric practice for 26 years and assisted with a great number of youth-oriented activities. Following their 1983 retirement to Sun City Center, FL, she was active in her church and hospice volunteer services. For the last five years, Genier lived at Beltrone Living Center in Colonie, NY. She will be remembered with great love by her children - John (Patricia) Clerkin of White River Jct., VT, Mary Ellen Clerkin of Albany, NY and William (Patricia) Clerkin of Coarsegold, CA - and her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service and internment will take place in Vermont at a later date. The family is grateful for the wonderful care and support provided by the staff at the Hospice Inn. Their kindness, understanding and compassionate care made this time easier for both Genier and her family.
